Shine Zhang · 张辛(少2)
President
Shine brings over 25 years of database expertise to GCAA, specializing in Greenplum distributed database systems. He holds an M.S. in Computer Science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute, where his thesis focused on data warehousing.
Beyond his professional life, Shine is passionate about guiding others towards financial freedom and enjoys exploring the imaginative worlds of science fiction novels, movies, and games.
He hopes his contributions to GCAA will foster enduring, meaningful connections among members, helping the organization grow and thrive like a flourishing tree — strong, expansive, and fruitful for years to come.
Huanrui Yang · 杨幻睿(少16)
Vice President
Huanrui is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Arizona (UA). Before joining UA, he was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the EECS department of UC Berkeley and Berkeley AI Research. He obtained the Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Duke University and the B.E. in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University. His primary research aims to develop mathematical understandings of the efficiency and robustness of deep neural network models to make deep learning usable in real-world tasks.
Huanrui loves to travel. Being able to travel around the world to conferences is one of the main driving factors for him to become a faculty member.
Andy Wangzhou · 王周安迪(少11)
Secretary
Andy graduated from the University of Texas at Dallas with a Ph.D. in Neuroscience. His research has focused on computational analysis of meta-omics data in multiple diseases. He is currently a postdoc at UCSF.
Andy loves watching anime and movies, reading, baking, skiing, and overall making things.
Hanwei Liu · 刘寒未(少9)
Treasurer
Hanwei is based in New York City with 8 years of professional experience in financial risk management consulting. She specializes in counterparty credit risk management, market risk analytics, and model validation.
Hanwei obtained a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where her research focused on asset pricing, time series forecasting, and equity market downside risks.
Outside of work, Hanwei is an avid reader (currently immersed in The Power Broker by Robert A. Caro), a diligent runner (currently training for another marathon), and an aspiring polyglot (currently striving to keep her Duolingo streak alive!). Hanwei also has a passion for traveling, great art, and delicious food.
Limeng Cui · 崔荔蒙(少12)
Administrator
Limeng is an Applied Scientist at Amazon Search in Palo Alto, CA, where she's focused on using AI to enhance customers' search navigation experience. She completed her Ph.D. in Information Sciences and Technology from Penn State University, where her research focused on fake-news detection and healthcare misinformation. Prior to Amazon, she interned at Facebook AI and IQVIA, contributing to content policy detection and healthcare analytics. She also holds a Ph.D. in Computer Applied Technology from the University of Chinese Academy of Sciences.
Throughout her career, she has combined her expertise in AI and machine learning to improve user experiences across different platforms. When she's not working on AI, she's a self-proclaimed pizza lover.
Feng Pan · 潘丰(少7)
Communication
Feng is a professional coach (www.fengmacrow.com) dedicated to helping high-potential professionals and entrepreneurs bridge the gap between their technical expertise and their authentic leadership voice. Born in China and now based in Canada — having lived 20 years in each country — Feng deeply understands the unique challenges of the North American Chinese diaspora, from navigating corporate communication barriers to the psychological shift required for "moving things forward" in high-stakes environments.
Feng holds a Master's degree in Software Engineering from the University of British Columbia, and has over 15 years of experience in successful startups and public companies. She is passionate about technologies in AI, security, and image processing. Outside of work, Feng enjoys spending time with her family and trying out different cuisines. Feng has been helping organize alumni annual reunions since 2014.
Yuyao Wang · 王羽尧(少13)
Alumni Relations
Yuyao is currently a Senior Consultant at NERA Economic Consulting based in New York City. She specializes in providing economic and financial analyses in complex legal and advisory matters, mostly related to financial products.
Yuyao obtained a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Chicago, where her research focused on the intersection of macroeconomics and financial markets.
In her spare time, Yuyao is a fervid scuba diver and traveller. She has been to over 50 countries and explored the underwater world in all oceans except Antarctica. Yuyao also enjoys good food and whisky.
Han Zhang · 张涵(少18)
Special Events
Han Zhang is a Berkeley-based researcher in music technology and a self-proclaimed composer. She received her Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University and her Bachelor's degree in Automation from Tsinghua University. Han is passionate about developing methods and concepts for audio technology and creating new music. She also enjoys outdoor activities including mountaineering, rock climbing, skiing, scuba diving, and sky diving.
As an alumna of the 18th class, Han is a new member of the board, and she hopes to make her contributions to help connect GCAA members and make the bond stronger through online and offline events.
Zhao Ge · 葛钊(少5)

Zhao graduated from Rice University in Physics. He lives in Texas and works in the Oil and Gas industry with a focus on exploration and seismic imaging. Zhao is an active runner, biker, and swimmer. Yes — he is an IRONMAN.
Yuan Wang · 王元(少6)
Member-at-Large
Yuan heads the Research Analytics group at UCB Biopharma. She brings 15 years of experience in computational analytics and data strategy to tackle challenges in severe diseases. Prior to joining UCB she was working at Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research in Cambridge, MA, and F. Hoffmann-La Roche in Basel, Switzerland. She received her Bachelor's from Zhejiang University, and her MSc and Ph.D. from the University of Bonn, Germany.
Outside of work she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and traveling. She is also active in various mentorship programs, offering support to young scientists and students, including the one organized by GCAA.
